Solomons chief will press the case for SME potential to be unleashed at high profile RICS event

Our Managing Director Dominic Doig is heading to the second city this month to press the case for positive SME procurement in major projects and programmes.

Dom will be part of a panel discussion at the RICS SME Support Group networking event, which takes place at the RICS offices in Birmingham on Wednesday, October 18. To register for the event, click here.

He will share his passion and belief in the power of SMEs to make positive, sustainable, socioeconomic change through their involvement in the delivery of major projects and programmes. Dom will present the Swimming with the Big Fish concept – and resulting SME Matchmaker Service – along with the TeesSMEs alliance as live case studies of how collaborative procurement of SMEs is helping to create lasting legacies in the North West and North East regions.

Dom says: “It’s an honour to be part of this panel and to share the knowledge and experience in we’ve gained. It’s easy to be passionate about something, but we’ve turned a desire to unleash the full potential of SMEs into practical approaches which if embraced more widely, could have meaningful positive impact on the career and life prospects of local people in regions where major projects are being delivered.

“Both the Swimming with the Big Fish SME Matchmaker Service and TeesSMEs alliance were created to achieve this goal. And I’m delighted that we’re having an impact through both and look forward to sharing our story to inspire others in our mission. Ultimately, SMEs are crucial to the UK’s economic growth and prosperity. They just need more collaborative procurement approaches that provide them with the long-term work and security they need to help them invest, grow and generally share their success with the communities in which they’re based.”

Dom’s involvement in the RICS panel will come hot on the heels of the “Unlocking maximum socioeconomic value from strategic SME procurement” presentation delivered to the ACostE North West Group. More than 20 delegates attended the event, which saw Dom present alongside Claire Louise Chapman of The Shared Value Business. Click here to read more
