Growing SME champion Solomons joins Cumbria Chamber of Commerce network

Solomons Europe has joined Cumbria Chamber of Commerce in a dual bid to support its latest period of growth and promote opportunities for SMEs to secure long-term transformational contracts.

Solomons has been part of Cumbria’s business fabric since it was founded in 1998, with 11 employees based at its offices at the Papcastle Depot, Cockermouth and Moss End Business Village, Crooklands. It has joined Cumbria Chamber as it undergoes yet another significant period of growth to meet the needs of clients across the power, infrastructure and energy sectors.

Cumbria Chamber offers support, guidance and networking for businesses looking to develop and expand and acts as a voice for Cumbria business, representing the interests of SMEs – which dominate the county’s business community – to large corporate players.

Kerry Doig, Strategic Director, says: “We’ve become well established in the county’s business community over the years and want to build on this as an active and progressive member of the Cumbria Chamber network.

“As well as accessing the support and training on offer, we’re also eager to build new relationships with members across all levels of the supply chain to advocate fresh and truly collaborative approaches to major procurements.

“Our Swimming with the Big Fish SME Matchmaker Service has been supporting the Programme and Project Partners at Sellafield, connecting high performing SMEs willing to invest in Cumbria with the major Key Delivery Partners who will be responsible for £7bn worth of work at the site – unlocking significant growth and job creation. The service is gearing up to support other significant public and private sector clients and delivery partners across the Northern Powerhouse, ensuring SMEs play a valuable and active role in both exceptional project delivery and securing optimal regional social impact. It’s all about making a real, tangible difference locally, through business growth, investment, job creation and skills enhancement.

“Solomons is passionate about the individual and collective power of SMEs in realising socioeconomic benefits from significant project investments. So, we’re naturally excited to be taking the Swimming with the Big Fish approach to the network and working with them to realise the huge potential it holds for those who embrace it.”
